Carrier Infinity Continuous Fan Not Working

  1. Question Carrier Infinity fan not coming on

I have the Carrier Infinity furnace and central a/c. Now that we're into summer, I have the Infinity thermostat set for the fan as "low" and I just use the 'hold' feature (e.g. no schedules).

The fan does NOT always run despite being set as "low". I've verified this by checking the thermostat: Mode: Cooling Fan: OFF A/C (or dehumidify): OFF
What I mean is that when it's not calling for cooling or dehumidify and the fan is set to "on" .. it does not run and shows as "off".

It's thrown a couple of code 41s in the advanced menu section. My installer is going to contact Carrier but it looks like it might be a couple of weeks.

The fan was running nonstop initially this winter when - duh - I forgot to change it to "auto".

Is this bit about having the fan to "on" for cooling and it not running "normal" ?? Is this going to cause me problems down the road with the a/c not performing ?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you checking it right after the AC turns off or waiting 5 minutes (for the delay where the blower is shut off for 5minutes after the AC turns off)?

    I wish I had a $1.00 for every response I deleted.....

"Decidedly Superior in a twisted pathetic way".....

  3. Some of it might be me not waiting that 5 minutes - sorry.

But ... there have been times when it's not kicked on (shows as OFF) for periods of 30-45 minutes. Not sure how relevant this is, but I notice that sometimes the humidity exceeds what I have it set as and the dehumidify doesn't kick in (e.g. set at 52%, reads as 56%) unless I bump the temperature one degree above/below the room setting when the thermostat is satisfied.

    Thanks in advance again.

  4. There is a setting called "Dehumidifer drain time". If you humidity is at or above setpoint, there is a selectable time delay before the continous fan comes on after a call for cooling to give the coil time ot drain off some of the condensation so it's not immediately revaporated into the house. This is selectable from 0-60 minutes. I set mine to 60 minutes.

Error code 41 however, if its' the same as the standard controller, is a "Blower motor fault". So you might have an issue with the blower control board, or related issue.

  5. Oooh, how do you set that drain time, please? I'm hoping it's something do-able from the thermostat advanced settings.

I am suspecting you're right about the control board although the board DID have to be replaced on the day of installation and the system is less than one year old. Some of us have Murphy's Luck.

Thanks in advance for how I can reset that drain time thing.
